This song is about feeling insecure in one moment and confident in the next. It's about a friendship that often lead me to feel on top of the world but then later to feel dropped off a cliff. An internal roller-coaster that was exhausting but I got through it. (This is the very first Blue Hippopotamus song written back in 2005)

March 2010
Drifting home on automatic
Everyone is a mother or a father figure
I'm the child
I guess that's what feels good when they hold me
I want to be handed trust on a platter
I need everything shaken down around me
I'm a child
I'm a baby
I'm alone
I am swimming in the night
Everyone is on automatic
Watch the fire burn them
different colored responses
I want to be full of light on this platform
I'm a bright beam
I'm a glowing moon
I'm alive
I am shining in the night
The things that could have been
Have never crossed you
That's why you dream of them
That's why you look
Our roles
Have come
Into
A tension
I'm a child
I'm a baby
I'm alone
I am swimming in the night
